What Is Xeomin and How Does It Work?
Xeomin is quite similar to BOTOX® and Dysport® : it's a botulinum-based injectable that is designed to temporarily freeze muscle contractions in the injection area, temporarily erasing wrinkles and smoothing out the region. How does Xeomin accomplish this? To answer that, it's important to understand how wrinkles occur in the first place. Your natural facial movements – smiling, laughing, speaking, furrowing your brow, frowning – are caused by muscle contractions.
Xeomin works by blocking the release of the natural chemicals that induce muscular contractions. When your muscles don't receive these signals, they don't contract. When your muscles don't contract, your skin doesn't wrinkle. Over time, this lack of contractions will cause wrinkled skin to relax and smooth out. Xeomin or BOTOX?
Choosing between Xeomin and BOTOX is a matter of finding the right solution for you. Dr. Sara will work with you to find the right injectable treatment. Fortunately, both Xeomin and BOTOX have excellent track records for safety and effectiveness, which means you can count on them to achieve your goals. Xeomin is FDA-approved for the treatment of moderate to severe frown lines between your eyebrows, unlike BOTOX, which can be used to treat all sorts of facial wrinkles.
On the other hand, Xeomin contains no unnatural additives, just a weakened version of the botulinum type A toxin. This means there's less chance for your body to develop antibodies against Xeomin. And unlike BOTOX, Xeomin doesn't need to be refrigerated before use.
We will thoroughly evaluate the state of your skin to determine which injectable treatment is appropriate. You can count on us to recommend the treatment that will best achieve your specific goals.
